The imminent general secretary of the PP, Miguel Tellado, will accumulate more power than usual as 'number two' by subsumating under his command the area of organization, usually shed in a vice -secretary of his own. The objective, “electoralize the game,” according to a statement sent by the PP this Thursday afternoon. “It will assume the departments that led Cuca Gamarra and Carmen Fúnez. A unique command in the management of the internal affairs of the party, the relationship with the autonomies and the design and planning of the electoral processes,” says the text. Who does not mention the statement is the current head of electoral analysis, Elías Bendodo.
Tellado will thus exercise the functions that Gamarra and Fúnez previously assumed who, as the until now general secretary, will remain in the Management Committee as Vice Secretary of Health and Social Policy. The first of the portfolios of Esther Muñoz, who amounts to spokesman in Congress. The second is taken from Oscense Ana Alós, who points to her departure from the PP executive.
The other portfolio that had Alós, equality, falls to Deputy Jaime de los Santos, who enters the Management Committee as Vice Secretary. It also collects the competencies in education that also depended on Muñoz.
De Los Santos was so far integrated into the Vicesecretariat of Culture, which depended on Borja Sémper. In Congress he exercised as a spokesman in the Equality Commission. In 2013 he held space in the media after publishing photographs accompanying the wife of the then president, Mariano Rajoy. He was an assistant to Elvira Fernández, a position for which he pocketed 60,000 euros gross per year.
