John Cena captured WWE's undisputed championship in Wrestlemania 41 to become world champion for seventeenth time. A member of the Hall of Fame recently suggested a scenario in which The Franchise Player would refuse to put the title at play against a high -level superstar.
Cody Rhodes maintained WWE's undisputed title for 378 days. However, he failed to retain him in this year's show of shows, since Cena defeated him after a low blow and a blow to the head with his belt. Since then, The American Nightmare has been absent from WWE programming. Speaking in the Podcast Something to Wrestle, the member of the Hall of Fame John Bradshaw Layfield (JBL) discussed what could come next for the former champion.
The wrestling legend suggested a scenario in which Rhodes would return to challenge Cena, but the latter would refuse to fight him, since he had already defeated him in Wrestlemania. JBL pointed out that The American Nightmare would then be forced to work again:
“I don't know if it exists right now or not because I don't know the creative. But it is easy to make it exist because, literally, you can create it from nothing. This arises with the typical heel champion saying, 'I will not face it. I already defeated it. I will not face it.' And then you have Cody who has to work again. (1:08:43 – 1:09:03)
Former WWE writer that John Cena will lose the title against Cody Rhodes in Summerslam
In his podcast Wrestling With Freddie, former writer Freddie Prinze Jr. expressed his satisfaction with the result of the fight for the undisputed WWE championship in Wrestlemania 41.
Meanwhile, the Hollywood star predicted that John Cena would lose the title against Cody Rhodes in Summerslam in August:
“This gives Cody another hill to climb because they will fight in Summerslam and Cody will recover the title because he is the new John Cena. So he will recover it,” he said.
The wrestling veteran Stevie Richards recently explained why triple H and his creative team had to get Cody Rhodes out of television after Wrestlemania.
