The confrontation of Cody Rhodes against John Cena at WWE Wrestlemania 41 was an important fight in his career, although he lost. This has led many to wonder what follows for The American Nightmare.
Cody refused to resort to unfair tactics during combat, despite having wide opportunities. This allowed John Cena to take the advantage near the end of the match and become world champion. However, this has also generated questions about his future and if Heel could become in the near future.
Speaking in UnSKriptedBill Apter discussed how fans could receive a change to Heel from Cody. He said that The American Nightmare unexpectedly and could betray many friends and even relatives so that he will not be cheered as Heel on WWE, unlike stars such as John Cena and Jacob Fatu.
“You know, Cody, if heel becomes, would not be a heel that fans would cheer like John Cena and Jacob Fatu. There are heels who are cheered, but I think Cody, if he became Heel, would really be a heel. He would be booed.” (15:33 onwards)
