Vince McMahon has broken his silence and has declared that the documentary series “Mr. McMahon” by Netflix confuses the character he played on television with his true self.
The former WWE executive president published a statement to X on Monday saying that, according to a preliminary cut of the documentary series he has seen, he leaves the spectators “intentionally confused.”
McMahon wrote:
“I do not regret having participated in this Netflix documentary. The producers had the opportunity to tell an objective story about my life and the incredible business that I built, which were equally full of emotion, drama, fun and a good dose of controversy and life lessons. Unfortunately, according to an early partial cut that I have seen, this documentary falls short and takes the predicable path of merging the character of the“ S. McMahon ”with my true self, Vince. The title and promotions by themselves leave it in evidence.”
“A large part of the information has been distorted or completely omitted with the aim of intentionally confusing spectators. Producers use typical editing tricks with out -context images and anti -fledged audio fragments, etc. to distort the perception of spectators and support a misleading narrative.”
“In an attempt to continue with their misleading version, producers use a demand based on a romance that I ended as proof that, in fact, I am the 'Mr. McMahon'.”
“I hope the viewer keeps an open mind and remember that in each story there are two sides.”
The “Mr McMahon” series will be released on Wednesday in Netflix
The six episodes of “Mr. McMahon” are scheduled to be launched on Wednesday, September 25, 2024. The project was prepared in part from more than 200 hours of interviews with McMahon himself before he resigned from Tko.
Director Chris Smith said a Netflix that “during the four years of production, history evolved in truly shocking ways, culminating in some extremely heartbreaking accusations. The final product is a revealing documentary that we believe that offers a rich and nuanced portrait of man and the legacy complex that left behind.”
