The member of the WWE Jerry Lawler Hall of Fame has been on his way to recovery since he suffered a stroke on February 7, 2023. In an exclusive interview, Harvey Wippleman provided a positive update on the health of his lifelong friend.
Wippleman, also known as Downtown Bruno, made a name as a wrestling manager in Memphis in the 1980s. Lawler was the highest star in Memphis's territory before joining WWE in 1992 as a commentator and occasional fighter.
Lawler initially had problems with his speech after the stroke. However, when talking with Bill Apter, a wrestling editor of Sportskeeda, Wippleman revealed that the health of the wrestling legend has improved significantly:
“To be honest, I talked to him last night. We talked for a while. We laughed, we joked, we talked about old funny anecdotes and all that, and it was almost as always. Maybe I spoke a little more slow, but nothing alarming, you know? If I had not known anything about his medical problems, he would have thought that he had a cold or something like that. We joked and continue talking, so it was great.
