Adsar presses its government partner shortly before the appearance of Pedro Sánchez in the Congress on Wednesday. The parties of the plurinational coalition want the PSOE to commit to a series of measures in both social and anti -corruption and that the president includes them in his Wednesday's speech. “That day the course of the legislature will be decided,” they predict.
From the coalition monitoring meeting, last week, the feeling between the forces of adding that the PSOE is not making the necessary movements to get out of the crisis caused by the outbreak of the Saints Cerdán scandal, the former socialist leader who entered last Monday in preventive detention for his possible link in a plot of public works contracts.
It is a very hard blow that has shaken the two parts of the government and for which both the partners have already requested concrete measures to Sánchez. The day everyone has marked in the calendar is this Wednesday, when the president will appear to give explanations and announce the next steps that will serve as the thermometer of the will of the socialists to continue with the legislature.
So they see it in adding. The coalition matches, with slightly different tones and proposals, claimed this Monday not only a reaction to the PSOE, but also that response is agreed and that includes some of the measures they have proposed since the scandal broke out. And also activate the social package signed in the investiture agreement between both parties.
This Monday, Sources of Add transferred that they will take the law to Congress to create an anti -corruption office and “the remuneration of parental permit” to the Council of Ministers this July. It is, in reality, a way of continuing to press the PSOE, since it needs its partner to promote any of the two measures, especially the second, which has stopped from the beginning of the legislature.
In the investiture agreement, PSOE and Sumar agreed to extend the maternity and paternity permit at 20 weeks and “advance in the implementation of retributed care permits” of eight weeks. They are two different measures. The first has not yet been launched despite the ads made at the end of last year the Minister of Social Rights, Pablo Bustinduy.
The second is halfway. The Government approved via decree the last legislature the creation of those eight -week permits for care, but not their remuneration. That is why the commitment of the investiture agreement contemplated the remuneration of the first four weeks, something that Spain has the obligation to comply with Europe. In fact, since August 2024, a fine for breaching the Directive “at a rate of 9,760 euros” per day, according to the calculations of the Ministry of Labor.
Until now, the socialist part of the Government had been carrying out the negotiation of this measure to the approval of general state budgets that, however, has been extending due to the lack of parliamentary support. Add believes that the only exit of the crisis is to boost measures like this.
“Regarding birth permits and the remuneration of parental permit of care for 7 million parents is one of the main social measures collected in the Government Agreement and which was not complying. We will guarantee that families have this measure approved before classes begin again,” sources of adding.
The measure, however, needs the contest of the Socialist Party to approve in the Council of Ministers. And sources from the Ministry of Labor recognize that there have been no contacts or advances of any kind since the meeting last week between both government members. Add said that the meeting was bad and that he had not found any kind of progress.
“The time has come, it is time for citizens, that monomarental families can enjoy this right that corresponds to them,” the Sumar Lara Hernández Movement Coordinator defended on a press conference. “When we insist, our measures come forward in the Council of Ministers,” he insisted. Work sources transfer that the idea is to continue negotiating until it moves the PSOE.
In a similar line, the commons also asked the PSOE on Monday. “Corruption cannot be fought with silence. Valentía, concrete measures and a clear turn towards democratic regeneration, if the PSOE does not do so, we will do it, we will do it,” said the spokeswoman for the Catalan coalition, Aina Vidal, where they continue to see the socialists “blocked and paralyzed.”
United Left asks for “radical” anti -corruption measures
A different tone used the General Coordinator of the United Left, Antonio Maíllo, who hopes that in the next few hours there will be contacts between his formation and the Socialist Party so that Sanchez includes among his ads some of the 35 measures against corruption that they launched just a few weeks ago, in full burst of the Cerdán case.
IU has requested, for example, a legal change for the corruptors to assume the “direct and indirect costs of their actions, damages to third parties, judicial costs and restitution of injured rights.” Or, for example, that these corrupt companies are prohibited from attending public contracting tenders if they have been convicted, both they and their managers, in the last ten years.
“The appearance is important and we trust that a new stage will occur, a new departure gun to a legislature that needs to bold everywhere,” Maíllo defended this Monday, which although he said that at the moment there has been no communication with the PSOE, in the next few hours “there will be contacts.”
“We are confident that an attentive appearance is going to be made to the sensibilities that are in all parts of the government, on the one hand, the Socialist Party and, on the other hand, organizations such as the United Left and others that we share a parliamentary group. And from that confidence it is from which we build from here to Wednesday the moderate optimism that the challenges required by the Government, to the debate and acceleration of measures, The IU leader insisted, more conciliatory with the PSOE than the formation of Yolanda Díaz.
All the forces of adding – also the parliamentary partners of the Government – coincide in any case that the appearance of the next Wednesday of Sánchez will be essential to know if the socialists have the will to attend to the requests that have transferred them in recent weeks and that they consider indispensable to be able to exhaust the legislature with guarantees.
