The Plenary of the City of Alcalá de Henares held this morning has approved with the votes of PP and Vox, the two forces in the local government, demand from the Executive led by Pedro Sánchez the closure of the Center for Attention, Emergency and Derivation (CAED) of migrants installed in the municipality in November 2023. During the interventions, some 25 members of Alcalá host, the collective that gives support and support to the users of the center, they have exhibited the users of the center. banners against the initiative that prayed “hate closing.” The vote of this point in the agenda, which also includes the reprobation of the Government delegate in Madrid, Francisco Martín, has ended with three activists identified by the Local Police.

The debate occurs after the rape suffered by a 21 -year -old girl in the vicinity of the CAED on May 28 allegedly committed by a user of the center from Mali and already celebrates preventive detention. Days later, two mobilizations starring extreme groups have left a hate trail in the city, as well as confrontations with the police on both occasions. Later, near the enclave a swastika appeared with the message “Black to the cemetery.”

Around 11.15 the hottest point has arrived in the agenda. The PP defended a motion to ask the central government of the closure of this enclave, located in the Primo de Rivera quartering, through which some 10,000 people have already passed, according to data from the Government Delegation. Neither the interventions of the PSOE nor more Madrid Alcalá, nor the sample of repulsion to the initiative by the activists, has managed to stop the motion.

Against “ideological goodism”

The Consistory has stressed that “the model imposed by the government of Sánchez, Saiz and Marlaska has failed and is having a real cost for Alcalá.” In addition, its spokesman in the City Council, Gustavo Severien, has encrypted in a million euros the cost that has led to the arrival of these migrants to the city, although it has not explained the fate of that money. In his opinion, “we are not facing an integration policy, but of lack of control.”

From the Alcalaíno City Council they have pointed out that they defend “the immigration that respects the laws”, but that they will not “ask for forgiveness to protect” their “families” and that “the fear or concern of families cannot be ignored.” In this sense, before starting the debate of the motion, two representatives of the Commonwealth of the Parque del Ángel and Ciudad 10, two areas close to the CAED, have shared some conflicts that have claimed to suffer because of the migrants, such as stirring in the garbage or making “inappropriate comments to minors”, in their own terms.

Municipal Government sources have also emphasized that “Alcalá will not be an accomplice of a migratory free bar model,” and that defend “order and responsibility, not ideological goodism.” During the plenary, the mayor, Judith Piquet, has stressed that “time has given the reason we warn that this model would generate security problems.”

More Madrid and the PSOE show their rejection

Very different has been expressed by the parties in the opposition. The PSOE spokesman and national deputy, Javier Rodríguez, commented that “the CAED has been working for many months” and that this motion “comes from sexual assault.” Like his homologous of more Madrid Alcalá, Rosa Romero, has criticized that the mayor summoned the media before the violation perpetrated by the migrant, but did not do the same with the five that have occurred in Alcalá during the first quarter of this year. “They only summon it when the author is black and poor,” said Rodríguez.

Romero added that “this motion responds to bringing more noise to the city and not to improve the life of the alkalains.” Meanwhile, activists had already deployed their banners in which messages such as “hate closing”, “no racism” and “racism are not discussed, are fought.” In addition, the most Madrid spokeswoman has indicated that Vox acts as if they were the “Trump landowner imitators.” The vote against the two formations have not been enough to prevent the motion from moving forward.

The Government delegate, disapproved

This same motion also collected the reprobation of the Government delegate in Madrid, Francisco Martín, for statements that the local Executive has described as “inadmissible, false and deeply offensive.” As they have commented from the City Council in a press release, this decision has been made after Martín said that “the Alcalaians commit 45% more crimes than the migrant residents of the CAED.”

The general secretary of the Madrid PP, Alfonso Serrano, has come to the debate of this motion in Alcalá. It was in his X profile where a confidential police report on an altercation happened in the city accompanied by a message that linked insecurity with migration. The mayor of the city, Piquet, and her head of communication are investigated for justice for these facts.

Serrano, who has been interrupted by the activists who had mobilized, has commented before the media that “this goes from responsibility against goodism, of rigor against lack of control, of integration plans against tension plans, which is what it seems that the Government of Pedro Sánchez seeks with an irresponsible policy.” From his point of view, the situation has come to “fed up people”, which “what he wants is is responsibility and rigor for a good coexistence and a good integration policy.”

“Hate discourse closure”

Once the motion voting is over, the 25 activists have continued to show their rejection of the initiative with whistles and some shouts, such as “shame.” They have abandoned the Chamber accompanied by several Local Police agents, which have identified three of them. Outside the Complutense town hall, about 15 people have joined them in a concentration that has been led by the message that the banner prayed: “Closing to hate discourse. Alcalá Antirracista, antifascist and feminist.” For a few minutes, protesters have chanted songs such as “native or foreign, the same working class” and “no human being is illegal.”

Alcalá's spokeswoman, Blanca Aller, has read a statement in which they have stressed that “the same ones who have not done anything on so many previous occasions – in relation to the rape allegedly committed by the resident of the CAED – are those who now demand the immediate police and political action and are doing it in the way they know best, with more violence”.

The group has expressed that the mobilizations after the violation “do not want to pursue justice for the culprit or repair for the victim, they want to blame vulnerable people, which they have been receiving hatred since before reaching Alcalá.”

One of the people who has moved today until Alcalá has been the general secretary of the Communist Party of Madrid, Miguel Montero, who has assured Eldiario.es that “the PP and Vox are not only accomplices of the hunts to people of foreign origin, but also instigators.” He also pointed out that “they do it at a particularly irresponsible moment in which we have seen extremely violent images by Nazi groups throughout the country in the city of Torre Pacheco, in Murcia.”

The Coordinator of the United Alcalá, David Cobo, added that “we are seeing that the dynamics of the PP and Vox are sowing the hatred by blaming an entire group of any individual crime.” “Today we are here to defend all the neighbors of the city, also to migrant neighbors, and to say that we are in favor of solidarity,” he concluded.
