The president of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, will give explanations in the Congress about the case of corruption that affects the former socialist leader Santos Cerdán on July 9. The PSOE leader will appear at his own request after all executive members and the opposition have also demanded that he go to the lower house. The Popular Party has tried without success to force the President to appear this week.

The Board of Spokespersons has approved to set the appearance of Sanchez for an extraordinary plenary that will be held on Wednesday, July 9. Although it will do it at their own request, several partners such as Esquerra Republicana or the BNG had registered a formal request for a few days for the president to give explanations in the hemicycle about the scandal that affects his party.

Several government partners have requested at the Board of Spokespersons to go as soon as possible to the Chamber, although the president generally chooses the date of the appearance based on his agenda and his international commitments. The PP, at the meeting of the Board, has tried to force a change in the agenda of this week to include the appearance in the plenary of this week, something that is needed unanimously of all parliamentary groups.

Although adding and EH Bildu shared the desire that Sánchez speaks to Congress as soon as possible, they have also understood that the president has an agenda that must be fulfilled and that is why they have not supported the plans of Alberto Núñez Feijóo's party.

The PP will not give up and ask at the Congress table to celebrate a new Board with the aim of approving an extraordinary plenary this week to include the appearance of Sánchez. If approved, something unlikely since the table controls it and adding, that plenary would be held next Thursday, when the ordinary ends.
