In a surprise ad, Michael Cole revealed during the pre-show of Wrestlemania 41 that WWE has acquired the Mexican Wrestling Promotion AAA.

The news comes shortly after WWE officially announced Worlds Collide, a cross promotion event between NXT and AAA.

The acquisition is in association with Filip, a Mexican sports and entertainment company. So far no details have been announced in terms of purchase price, key terms, and the existing content of the company and future events.

It is the first acquisition of this type by WWE since the purchase of WCW in 2001.

Levesque was accompanied by Michael Cole, the contingent of Mexican fighters of WWE, Viking of AAA, the general manager of AAA Dorian Roldan Pena, the president of AAA Marisela Pena, and the co -founder of Filip, Alberto Fasja Cohen.

In a publication shared in X later, Levesque thanked TKO to make the agreement possible, adding, “this association will guarantee that AAA remains the main destination for wrestling in Mexico.”

The AAA promotion was founded more than three decades ago in 1992 when Antonio Pena separated from his CMLL competitor. They had previously worked with TNA Wrestling, MLW and AEW, being one of their most outstanding collaborations the Ken Worlds Collide event of 1994 with WCW.

Pena died in October 2006 of a heart attack. Marisela is her sister, while Dorian is her nephew.

Among the alumni are Eddie Guerrero, Konnan, Rey Mysterio Jr., Psychosis, Parka and legends such as Blue Panther, The Son of the Saint, Octagon, and others.
