The State Meteorology Agency warns that the heat wave will rebuild “probably” from Thursday and will last until Monday, August 18.

The AEMET notice specifies that very high temperatures will continue to affect the entire Iberian Peninsula except the Cantabrian cornice. The warm air mass will remain on Spain so that “higher thermal values will be recorded than the usual ones for this time of the year, forming an episode of heat wave.”

The agency explains that this Tuesday expects the heat to loosen in terms of maximum temperatures in the Mediterranean area, although they rise at the southern end. For Wednesday also hopes that temperatures fall giving relief in terms of the maximum records, although they will remain very high in the southwestern quadrant and depressions of the Northeast.

As of Thursday, the most accused heat wave will arrive in the northern half, which would continue in the following days, extending to the eastern half from Saturday, the day they would begin to descend in the Cantabrian. In this way, temperatures will be very high again, reaching 40-42 ºC in the southwestern quadrant, Ebro Valley and, starting on Saturday, at points of the Mediterranean slope.

For Monday it is more foreseeable to begin a decrease in temperatures.
