The Mexican Sergio 'Czech' Pérez and Finn Valtteri Bottas will be the two Cadillac pilots for the next season of Formula One, as confirmed on Tuesday the American team.

Cadillac, who has the support of General Motors and will be led by former sports leader of Marussia Graeme Lowdon, will become the eleventh Formula One team next season.

“Signing two pilots as experienced as Bottas and Czech is a clear sign of intentions. They have seen everything and know what is needed to succeed in Formula 1, but the most important thing is that they understand what it means to help build a team,” Lowdon said in statements offered by his team.

The signing by Cadillac is the return for the pilot veterans, both 35 years old, after losing their respective seats in the monoplays of formula one at the end of last season.

The Mexican 'Czech' Pérez will contribute his extensive experience in the F1, having competed for Sauber, McLaren and Force India/Racing Point before moving on to Red Bull, with which he helped the team win the World Cup in Constructors in 2022 and 2023.

“Uniting the Formula 1 Cadillac team is a new incredibly exciting chapter in my career. From our first conversations I could receive passion and determination behind this project. It is an honor to be part of the construction of a team that can be developed together so that, over time, let's fight in the front line,” said the Mexican pilot.

“Cadillac is a legendary brand in American motoring and helping to bring such a fantastic company to Formula 1 is a huge responsibility that I trust to assume. I am proud to be part of such an ambitious and significant project from the beginning. I am greatly please support from the entire continent and we want everyone to feel proud, ”said Pérez.

For Bottas, after enjoying the success in Mercedes with a key role in the team that won the World Cup of Builders from 2017 to 2021, its signing by Cadillac supposes the return to the first line of the competition.

“From the moment I started talking to the Formula 1 Cadillac team I felt something different. Something ambitious but at the same time based. This is not just a racing project, it is a long -term vision. Not every day you have the opportunity to be part of something that is built from scratch and help to shape it so that it really belongs to the F1 grill,” said the Finn.
