Bogotá will be the scene of the third edition of the Chin Woo Colombia International 2025 Championship, which will be lived this weekend, between September 13 and 14, at the Cultural and Cultural Welfare Center of the Los Libertadores University Foundation (63a street #17-49).
This sports event will have 80 athletes from Brazil, Argentina and different regions of Colombia, who will face a quota to the World Cup in the discipline, which will take place next year in Berlin, the capital of Germany.
The tournament will be played under the intermediate and advanced categories. Lydia Ariza, administrative manager of the Chin Woo Colombia Athletic Association, said that “to get to this point we have experienced remarkable strategic growth, since in the last year we already added four national schools affiliated with our association, and that allows us to strengthen representation, expand the Chinese martial arts community in the country and project this event worldwide.”
The organization of the contest chose as a scenario for this edition of the Meeting to the IES University Foundation Los Libertadores because, both the Association and the Educational Institution, coincide in the purpose of promoting competitive skills, capacities and talents formed in Colombia.
“We provide our support for a growing practice that encourages union, improves individual skills and encourages the construction of a strong and solidarity community. The shared initiatives that develop in people a sense of belonging and cooperation are fundamental to complement the work we have been doing in the regions of the country, through our 11 social projection centers and various university well -being programs,” said Gloria Muñoz, director Libertadores University.
The Chin Woo Athletic Association originated in China and is currently located as the second non -funded coordinating organization of the world's largest Chinese arts. It has more than 56 branches in 35 countries and is rooted under the vision of Huo Yuanjia, who sought to transcend physical practice, to promote unity and community strengthening.
“Our main objective remains to spread the legacy of Chin Woo and offer Colombian martial artists an international platform to show their talent and discipline,” added Lydia Ariza.
What is Chin Woo?
The Chin Woo is a Chinese martial arts school founded on Shanghai in 1910 by Huo Yuanjia. It is not a single Kung-Fu style, but an association that brings together different martial techniques and disciplines, with the idea of strengthening not only the body, but discipline and spirit.
Since its creation it expanded to other Chinese cities and then to different countries of the world, becoming a benchmark of organized teaching of traditional martial arts.
It is not limited to a single system, but combines basic techniques of different styles of Kung-Fu (kicks, hand blows, traditional displacements and shapes) to create a solid, practical and balanced base that prioritizes clean technique, body control and effectiveness on brute force.
It does not focus solely on the fight, but on forming complete people. It combines physical practice with values such as respect, humility and personal improvement. Instead of teaching a single style, it promotes a program with several classic routines that allow the student to know the essentials of different branches of the Kung-Fu.
