The president of the Spanish Government, Pedro Sánchez, said Sunday that the proportions that have marked the cycling return to Spain fill him with “pride.”
The protests, directed against the Israel-Premier Tech team for the devastating Guerra in Gaza, interrupted several stages of one of the great cyclist laps and came to doubt that the 21-day race could be completed.
On Sunday, hundreds of proportuous protesters again invaded the route of the last stage of the Cycling Tour to Spain, before the passage of the runners, in the center of Madrid, according to AFP journalists.
In the Gran Vía, that cyclists must travel several times in the Spanish capital, the protesters knocked down the barriers installed throughout the avenue, before chanting calls to the Boicot of Israel.
In addition, the lap modified the route of the last stage 80 kilometers from the finish line. The organization of the competition was forced to divert the passage of the race through the town of Alcobendas, due to the large number of protesters who protest against the presence of the Israel-Premier Tech training.
Throughout the event, the Propalestinian activists forced to shorten some stages and, they came to cause a fall in breaking into the route, which caused accusations of endangering the safety of cyclists and damaging the image of Spain.
In his first public statements on the matter, Sánchez expressed his “recognition and absolute respect for athletes”, but also their “admiration, to a people like the Spanish who mobilizes for fair causes, such as Palestine's.”
“Spain today shines as an example and as a pride, example before an international community where it sees how Spain takes a step forward in the defense of human rights,” he said at a rally of the Socialist Party in Malaga.

Several members of the leftist government publicly supported protests in a country where support for the Palestinian cause is strong.
The protesters broke the reinforced security cord and tried to block the road during the penultimate stage in the Sierra de Guadarrama, on the outskirts of Madrid, on Saturday, which forced the cyclists to deviate to avoid them.
Instead, the leader of the conservative Popular Party, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, lashed out the “such embroidy image” that the protesters have given.
“Instead of ministers encouraging it, the government should condemn it, denounce and avoid it,” he wrote on the social network X.
The authorities reinforced the security for the final stage of Sunday in Madrid, which was shortened and will have 1,100 additional police officers deployed in the Spanish capital.
