The president of the United States, Donald Trump, signed last Monday a decree in which he undertakes to guarantee the security of Qatar, even through military actions, if the state of the Gulf is attacked. The measure arrives less than a month after Israel's attack in Doha in which six people died and who exasperated the authorities.

The Executive Order, which was signed the same day that Trump met with the Israeli prime military ”, to defend Qatar if he is attacked. The text also emphasizes that the response to any external aggression will be “jointly planned” between the two countries.

The decree says that the US sees Qatar as a “firm ally in the search for peace, stability and prosperity” and helps the United States to mediate in conflicts. Although it is not a formal treaty, and therefore is less binding, the executive order implies an important commitment of the United States, long wanted by the Catarí government.

Forced by Trump, Netanyahu called his Catarí counterpart on Monday, Mohamed Bin Abdulrahmán, to apologize for the September 9 attack. The apology occurred during “a joint telephone call” that the Head of the Catarí diplomacy received from Netanyahu and in the presence of the US president, Donald Trump, during his meeting at the White House, as confirmed by the US government in a statement.

“Prime Minister Netanyahu expressed his deep regret for Israel's missile attack against Hamás' goals in Qatar, which caused the accidental death of a cold military,” said the White House. Netanyahu also regretted that “Israel violated Catarí sovereignty and said he will not perform a similar attack in the future again.”

The note added that Qatar leader “welcomed with satisfaction” the words of the Israeli prime minister and “emphasized the willingness to continue contributing significantly to regional security and stability.”

Likewise, both accepted Trump's proposal to “establish a trilateral mechanism to improve coordination, communication and resolve mutual grievances.”

Qatar, who mediates together with Egypt and the United States for a truce agreement in the Palestinian enclave, was the scene of an Israeli attack that aimed the negotiating delegation of the Palestinian group Hamás. Although the leaders survived the action, five other members of the movement and a cataract security agent died.

Qatar described this attack as an act of “aggression” and “state terrorism”, while committed to taking “the necessary measures” to protect their national security.
