Randy Orton could not keep his composure when Kevin Owens revealed that his fight in Wrestlemania 41 will not occur due to the latter's neck injury. Then he hit with an RKO the general manager of Smackdown Nick Aldis.
Sam Roberts says that The Prizefighter's departure has opened the door for Aldis to make his debut at WWE. The former TNA world champion joined the headquarters based in Stamford in the autumn of 2023 as the Sheriff of the blue brand. He has expressed interest in fighting for the company since then, but has always claimed that the moment must be adequate.
Speaking in the podcast Notsam WrestlingWWE's personality pointed out how this is the best opportunity to present Nick Aldis as a fighter in the ring. Roberts feels that if The Viper hits Aldis again, then the sheriff could take the matter in his own hands:
“I think that could be your fight. You can say, 'How are you going to prepare that fight?' It's very easy. Nick says, 'I can't find you one.' Then you are the fight. (From 1:05:00 to 1:05:34)
Kevin Owens revealed after SmackDown who hopes to be back in the ring within a year. This leaves things completely unsolved between the former universal champion and The Viper.
WWE had sown the seeds for Nick Aldis vs. Randy Orton long before SmackDown
At the end of 2023, Randy Orton returned from an injury that threatened his career. He did not waste time before signing an exclusive contract with SmackDown. Nick Aldis, who had already taken command as the blue brand sheriff, negotiated the agreement. But after signing, Orton gave Aldis an RKO.
When Nick Aldis fined Orton for attacking an officer, the 14 -time world champion paid him twice the amount, saying it was for the next time. In more than one way, this may be the perfect setting for the Sheriff to finally fight.
