The different left-wing formations of the Congress of Deputies have reached an agreement in principle to unblock the commission that investigates the management of the dana of October 29 after agreeing to the appearance of the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, one of the points on which PSOE and Compromís and Podemos diverged.
The intention of PSOE and Sumar is to present the work plan and those appearing before the end of this week, so that continuity can be given to a commission that was formally established on May 21 under the presidency of the Valencian socialist deputy Carmen Martínez. This was approved at the proposal of Sumar, Junts, Republican and Mixed Group, with the support of the PSOE. Podemos and Compromís will present their proposal this morning, which includes four phases of appearances and in which the President of the Government will be summoned.
One of the main discrepancies between the political forces was the appointment of Pedro Sánchez on the commission list, and now, with the inclusion of the president, the work that will begin immediately is unblocked. The agreement also stipulates that the first to appear will be the associations of victims of dana, followed by the president of the Generalitat Valenciana, Carlos Mazón, and among the last to do so will be Pedro Sánchez himself.
The Popular Party also wanted to leave Mazón off the list of those appearing and requested the attendance of eight ministers and the President of the Government. However, it did not include any member of the Valencian Generalitat or personnel related to the regional administration. Since the left has a majority in this commission, it is expected that the program and the speakers mentioned will be those chosen by the majority of the investiture.
