The Orihuela City Council, through the Department of Citizen Security, has launched a special traffic and safety device on the occasion of the festival of All Saints. The operation will be deployed both in the municipal cemetery of Orihuela and in the seven cemeteries of the districts (La Aparecida, Desamparados, San Bartolomé, Hurchillo, Molins, La Murada and La Matanza).
The Councilor for Citizen Security, Mónica Pastor, has highlighted that “this device aims to guarantee that visits to cemeteries take place with maximum security, order and fluidity, also paying special attention to people with reduced mobility.”
Municipal cemetery of Orihuela
–The Local Police will maintain fixed service from Thursday, October 30 to Saturday, November 1 in the surroundings of the municipal cemetery.
-Access to the upper area will be reserved exclusively for the loading and unloading of people with reduced mobility, through the back of the cemetery.
-Civil Protection will collaborate to facilitate access for these people.
-A care post and a Red Cross ambulance will be installed due to the expected large influx.
Traffic and parking management
The parking ban will be established from 7 a.m. on Thursday, October 30 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, November 2 on the access road from the N-340 (Bar Ruiz entrance) to the cemetery (both sides), section between the N-340 and the old Crusa feed warehouse (area reserved for Bus), entrance esplanade to the cemetery (area reserved for taxi and parking for workers on the rear side) and on National Police Avenue a circulation and parking lane will be enabled to improve vehicle rotation.
District cemeteries
-On Saturday, November 1, the surveillance in the seven cemeteries of districts (La Aparecida, Desamparados, San Bartolomé, Hurchillo, Molins, La Murada and La Matanza).
-14 agents will be deployed on the morning shift and 14 agents on the afternoon shift, which means the presence of two agents for each cemetery.
Recommendations
-Plan the visit and, as far as possible, advance it to the previous days to avoid peak times.
-Respect temporary signage and areas reserved for TAXI, BUS and PMR.
-Make use of alternative routes and parking spaces available in the area.
