After winning the world title for the first time at the AEW Dynasty last year, Sunday's Dynasty from Philadelphia seemed the perfect opportunity for Swerve Strickland to recover the AEW world title.
However, that fairy tale final did not happen, since the Young Bucks made their return for the first time in six months to deliver a BTE Trigger to Strickland, giving Jon Moxley the opening to get the account and retain the title.
The end came when Strickland threw a chair at the head of Moxley, followed by the Swerve Stomp, but there was no referee to count since he had been eliminated by a blow with a chair previously. Then, the lights went out and, when they returned, Matt and Nick Jackson appeared, executed the movement and dragged Moxley on Strickland for the account and victory, closing the Pay-Per-View.
The Jacksons have been out of AEW's television since they began to “work from home” for fear of the Death Riders in Dynamite Fright Night edition last October, the same show where AEW's titles of AEW couples lost against Private Party lost. They have had problems with Strickland in the past when he was AEW world champion.
