The 2025 PAU has been a hit for many students from the Valciana community. It was already expected that the notes could fall, since this year's exam was the most demanding since 2019, but in many cases the descent has been dramatic. Several institutes have found that their outstanding students have taken enough or that those of remarkable have suspended, a fact that has triggered the number of young people who will go to the second call.
Normally These second exams are residual and few people are presented to thembut this year it will be exceptional. “My average in Latin is 7 and I took a 4.15. Several 9 friends have released a 6. We are all asking for review because we did not expect this note,” explains Mireia Fabra, of the IES Almussafes. She, like several of her companions, will go to the exams of July 1, 2 and 3 to upload your note and try to enter the teaching.
Other students will be presented only to a subject in which their note has collapsed. This is the case of Carla, who will only do the physics exam in the extraordinary call since he suspended and does not weigh. Mireia has also filed a claim and is preparing the following call while ompaagina with a job.
“Don't expect it”
The students consulted highlight the surprise after the exam, which was expected complicated. Several teachers say that the fact of discounting more due to spelling faults has made the note more collapsed. “We were not expected. I thought I had done the Latin exam well and it turns out that I had suspended it,” says Mireia. “It is a bit frustrating that the effort of the whole year ends like this, so we present ourselves to the second call to raise the note a little more.”
The rest of the students who are not going to be presented to the second call will spend a fairly restless month since they cannot know if their qualification will serve or not to enter their favorite career. Actually that the qualifications fall is not bad per se since access to careers is in relation to other students. If all the notes lower, the cutting notes of the races will go down. However, the students' reference when preparing for selectivity is the cutting note of the past year, which will not come out of doubt until the next July 11.
“We will spend a month with a lot of discomfort. We assume that the cutting notes have lowered, but we have no way of knowing that it is so. We cannot get an idea if our note is useful or not to enter the race we want,” says David Giménez, a student of the IES Almussafes.
“It is true that the last years was not normal. Before the pandemic there were 6 races with more than a 13 note throughout Spain and last year I think there were 35. After the Covid they maintained the facilities and instead of helping the students I think it has harmed us,” he explains.
Swollen notes
The facilities in the Pau exam began the year of pandemic for obvious reasons. However, after sending the crisis, they were not only maintained but were expanding, causing the notes to grow without stopping for five years, including access to careers.
The climbing has stopped this year and remains to be seen if it is also seen in the court cuts. “Many of my classmates have taken a note that does not give them for last year's cut and are already looking cycles in case they will not enter the university, because they are a bit blind,” says David.
However, there is another inflation linked to this increase in the notes of the selectivity and is in the baccalaureate of private and concerted centers. According to a recent report from the University System Observatory (OSU) Students of private and concerted centers go to the PAU. The percentage of outstanding is six points greater than in public institutes.
