The world of Puerto Rican wrestling is mourning after the death of July Domingo Estrada, known in the ring as a soft rich, at 54 years of age.
WWC made the announcement of death on Thursday night, March 20, in circumstances not yet officially detailed. Estrada was in plans to have an intervention in the heart in the next few days.
In his last years, Rico soft faced serious health challenges. In July 2024, a medical emergency led him to critical surgery that resulted in the amputation of his right leg and this year had heart problems.
In recent weeks it was announced that his career would be held in Puerto Rico as part of the WWC Anniversary event, which will be dedicated to his person.
Rico Soft was born on July 4, 1970 in Puerto Rico, son of José Estrada Mr., an outstanding figure in the World Wrestling Federation (WWF). Since childhood, Julio showed interest in wrestling, training at age 14 and debuting professionally in 1984 in independent shows in East Puerto Rico. Under names like Fabulous Boy, Cobra and the Taíno Indian, he began to forge his way. In 1991, his career jumped to join the Americas Wrestling Federation, where he fought with his father, consolidating his passion and talent.
In 1992, Rico soft arrived at World Wrestling Council (WWC), where it became a central figure for 18 years. Initially he worked with his brother, José Estrada Jr., but stood out as manager of legends such as Greg “The Hammer” Valentine, Abdullah The Butcher, Kane and Carlos Colón.
Adopting the nickname “Mr. Hardcore” for his extreme style, he starred in memorable rivalries, such as his fief with “El Profe” in the 90s. In 1998, he crowned Champion of Puerto Rico, and was part of “The Millennium Family”, a dominant group in the WWC.
Rico soft led his talent beyond Puerto Rico. In 2000, he arrived in Mexico as part of the Pierroth group, self -proclaiming himself “Champion of the Caribbean”, and then traveled to Japan, where as “Crazy Sheik” he formed a couple with Abdullah The Butcher. He also left his brand in independent promotions of the United States.
Rest in peace, soft rich.
