In your statement, Kornum explained that the eve of the championship met with his study group, in which two colleagues suffering from ADH. One of them offered him a pill, arguing that he served to improve concentration. Kornum acknowledged having taken it as an experiment, thinking that it would work as a stimulant similar to caffeine to prolong its ability to study. According to him, he did not believe that the substance had effects the next day, when he competed.

The cyclist himself voluntarily communicated during the control he had ingested Ritalin, without knowing then that it was included in the list of prohibited substances. It was at that time that he became aware of the infraction.

The sanction has retroactive effect since July 4, 2024, when Kornum himself requested to be separated provisionally while the case was resolved.
