WWE fans have not yet officially witnessed the true identity behind the mask of El Gran American. However, in a recent interview, R-Truth shared that she does not believe that a Raw superstar is the masked man.
The great American made his debut in Wrestlemania in Las Vegas last month. He defeated King Fenix in an encounter one against one on the biggest stage of all. American also achieved an important victory over Dragon Lee to capture the Speed championship on May 5, 2025.
Almost everyone has identified the new masked fighter as Chad Gable. However, the leader of American Made has consistently denied his involvement.
In the podcast INSIGHTpresenter Chris Van Vliet mentioned a rumor that suggested that Raw's 39 -year -old superstar was the great American. However, WWE R-Truth's legend quickly dismissed this idea.
“I've heard this crazy rumor that people think it's Chad Gable,” Vliet said. “No. No. No,” Truth replied. (From 29:48 to 29:55)
A member of the WWE Hall of Fame does not believe that Chad Gable is the great American
Among others, Kurt Angle also shared his opinions about the true identity of El Great American. The WWE Hall of Fame Member discussed this during an interview with the senior editor of Sportskeeda WrestlingBill Apter.

Given these negative receptions of the masked character in the Earth of the Eagle and the snake, Kurt Angle said that he did not believe that Chad Gable was the great American and suggested that the former Alpha Academy leader should avoid visiting Mexico to prevent any possible impact.
“I don't think so … well, you know what, I hope you never go to Mexico; that's all I can say,” Angle said.
The wrestling world will have to wait to see how the company develops the history of El Grande in the coming weeks. Despite Gable's denials, similarities in movements such as Ankle Lock and visible injuries, such as a cut in hand, have fed speculation among fans. Publications in X show divided fans, with some shouting “It's Chad Gable!” while others support Kayfabe's narrative that it is not.
The controversy about the character's origin, initially presented as from the “Gulf of America,” led WWE to change his turnover to the Gulf of Mexico after complaints from Mexican fans, according to the Wrestling observer Newsletter. The Storyline could culminate in a mask fight against mask, possibly in Backlash 2025, where the identity of El Grande could be revealed, potentially involving a surprise
