Triple H is heading to the WWE Hall of Fame after a surprise ad … but was it really a surprise for the man in charge of the company?
At a WWE staff meeting, Shawn Michaels announced that Triple H was going to be included in the WWE Hall of Fame. Michaels was accompanied by The Undertaker for the announcement that seemed to take The Game completely by surprise.
Triple H was almost speechless before his wife Stephanie McMahon joined him. McMahon has affirmed that she also did not know the announcement. But Dave Meltzer is not convinced that all this is a surprise.
Speaking at Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer questioned that the announcement was a surprise for triple H, since it is his work to choose those included in the WWE Hall of Fame:
The WWE Hall of Fame chooses it Paul Mild. That is his work, it is the work that used to be that of Vince McMahon. Vince would never choose himself for the Hall of Fame because it was he who chose him. Obviously, you have to invent a story because Paul Levesque cannot choose himself to be the stellar event of the Hall of Fame the second year that chooses the cast of the Hall of Fame.
They did something at a meeting where Undertaker and Shawn (Michaels) appeared. They said they were making an executive decision and that he would enter the Hall of Fame as the protagonist of the event.
They assure Triple H is the one who takes the decisions of the WWE Hall of Fame
Bryan Alvarez said that he believes that the story that Michaels and The Undertaker told could be real and that he believes that it is likely that triple H did not know, but Meltzer continued:
I don't believe it at all. First, it is professional wrestling. Second, he is the one who makes all these (decisions). Whoever is in the Hall of Fame has already elaborated his list, already knows who the star protagonist is. So they can't go and say “You are the star protagonist” when he has already chosen the main protagonist.
If they simply say “you are in the Hall of Fame”, that is one thing, but if they said “you are the star of the Hall of Fame.” He has to know, I don't believe it for a second. I saw the video and I wasn't convinced that I didn't know.
The announcement means that each member of the famous Kliq that devastated behind the scene in the WWE in the mid -1990s will be a member of the WWE Hall of Fame.
