The Canarian town of Tejeda was the scene of the 3rd stage of the project “Well of height”, organized by tuneñas and Spain moves. Nordic, hiking, yoga and a visit to the center of medicinal plants were held. The program collaborated to the limit.
The experience began with a circular hiking route (in which the attendees discovered the traditional trades and the Tejeda boiler), continuing with an initiation workshop to the Nordic march through the center of the town. In the afternoon, a visit to the center of medicinal plants was made and, at night, they attended the romantic night with the Star Observatory. On Sunday a yoga masterclass took place.
The Councilor for Tourism of TejedaAventino Rodríguez, commented that “our town is an incredible place to practice sports and to help the mental and physical health of citizens, because most tourists we receive in our municipality come to do sports, especially hiking and are delighted with the spectacularity of the landscapes of our people. It has been a weekend full of energy, natural beauty and well -being in one of the most beautiful peoples of the Canary Islands.”
“Well high” is an initiative of the Spanish Association of Mountain Peoples (ESMONTAINS) y Spain moves. It is the first network of experiences in mountain municipalities that seeks an integral benefit in people. It is about taking advantage of the context offered by the mountain and all its raw materials to fight one of the main pandemics we have in Western society, which are the mental health problems. Mountain municipalities have a lot to offer and what tries to “well high” is to put all these experiences together and make them more accessible to the citizen.
This project not only benefits visitors, but also promotes the economic development of the participating municipalities, with the enhancement of local resources and the promotion of sustainable tourism. The official project website (https://biendealtura.es/) Includes information on the activities and the peoples attached, as well as the benefits of these experiences for integral well -being. A healthy pioneer network will be created for the future that will integrate the various actors related to active – healthy tourism. “Well high” is sponsored by mountaineers of the prestige of Edurne Pasabán, Carlos Soria or Aymar Navarro.
The next stages will be held in September in Morella and Overlab. “Well of height” is funded with European funds through the General Secretariat of Tourism.
