Dominik Mysterio broke his character in Wrestlemania 41 after winning the intercontinental championship. A legendary Heel from WWE reacted to what happened in The Show of Shows and explained why it happened that way.

In The Grandest Stage of Them All this year, “Dirty” Dom made the PIN on his partner of Judgment Day, Finn Balor, in a Four-Way Fatal Combat against Bron Breakker and Penta to become the new intercontinental champion. Las Vegas exploded in celebration and cheered the one that was once a magnet of boos in a surprising turn of events.

Despite being a heel, Mysterio had to absorb what was happening and returned to the ring to recognize the crowd. John “Bradshaw” Layfield explained in Something To Wrestle with Bruce Prichard Why the villain was strongly cheered as if it were a babyface.

“I thought it was just an appreciation for everything he has done. I mean, it has been such a good heel, one of the best I've seen in decades. And throughout all this, I think the fans looked at him and said, 'Man, that was the right choice. We will hate him tomorrow, but today he is our boy,” JBL said. (1:08 – 1:27)

Dominik Mysterio has been receiving ovations since he won in Wrestlemania 41. He could be ready for a true career as Babyface, but his work with The Judgment Day is still first, especially with JD McDonagh back to soften things with Finn Balor.

Triple H was not surprised that Dominik Mysterio was cheered

In a Topps opening video after Wrestlemania with Sam Roberts, Triple H was asked about his reaction to Dominik Mysterio's ovations. WWE content director was not surprised at all by the reaction due to the good that has been “Dirty” Dom as an interpreter and character.

“Not really. When you're so bad, people love it. It's good something,” said Triple H. (2:20 – 2:30)

Triple H knows a couple of things about being a great Heel, although he also had a great career like Babyface as he aged.
