A former WWE divas champion recently expressed his desire to return to the ring after almost a decade of absence. Layla said she wanted to return to a last fight before retiring forever.
Layla began her professional wrestling career after winning the Diva Search contest organized by the WWE in 2006. During the following years, she was gradually ascending until she won the Divas title and the WWE Women's Championship once each. However, the 47 -year -old fighter decided to suddenly abandon wrestling in 2015 and left silently.
In recent months, Layla has openly expressed her desire to return. In an appearance in the podcast No Name Wrestlingthe veteran explained that, although before she was reluctant to continue in the business, she was now willing to return. Layla added that she wanted to make a last race before age reached her.
“Yes, now there is an opportunity,” said the former women's champion and divas champion. “Before, absolutely not. I wasn't open to anything, I wanted a break, I wanted to get away. But now, absolutely. Before I am too old and can't come back and do anything. Yes, once again,” said Layla.
Many legends, including Bully Ray and Michelle McCool, have returned to the ring in World Wrestling Entertainment under the direction of Triple H. Therefore, Layla's return is possible.
Layla wants a Laycool meeting at WWE
In another part of the interview, Layla presented an argument for her possible return. She said she was interested in meeting with her Laycool partner, Michelle McCool. The 47 -year -old explained that the duo had a huge number of followers in its time and that the spectators would be happy to see them together again.
“Honestly, I would return to make a Laycool meeting. If possible and it is something that could happen, why not? It is a unique opportunity in life. We had many fans when we were together. I would love to meet with my best friend once again,” he said.
Given that the division of female couples has been strengthened in WWE, it is safe to assume that the incorporation of McCool and Layla into the ranks could reinforce it even more.
