The Klyuchevskoy volcano, located in the East of Russia, erupted on Wednesday, Russian scientists reported, hours after a powerful earthquake caused evacuations and alerts of Tsunami in parts of the Pacific coast.

“Lavor Live is observed flowing along the western slope. There is a powerful glow on the volcano and explosions,” Russia's geophysical service reported on Telegram.

The Klyuchevskoy, one of the highest active volcanoes in the world, is located about 450 kilometers from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, the capital of the Russian region of Kamchatka.

The eruption occurred hours after the earthquake of magnitude 8.8 that shook the coast of the Kamchatka region, causing tsunami evacuations and alerts in several countries.
