Alexa Bliss returned to WWE on Saturday at Royal Rumble female fight. WWE SmackDown's feminine champion did not fight since the 2023 event, where he failed to challenge the then Bianca Belair champion.
According to Fightful Select, confirming previous reports, Bliss surprised many at the WWE when it appeared in the building on Saturday.
Bliss and WWE had been very distanced in the contract negotiations, and until Friday's rehearsal for the rumble, Bliss had not been scheduled to be part of the fight. As far as it was known before Saturday, WWE initially had no plans for Bliss until the two parties would have softened their alleged contractual dispute.
Bliss entered the 21st position in the fight, which according to Fightful had originally been the place planned for Shotzi. Shotzi had not fought in a fight of the main roster from the Royal Rumble female last year, since he spent a large part of 2024 was due to a knee injury, and has fought in “WWE NXT” since he recovered from his injury to obtain repetitions in the ring before returning to the main roster. Some sources that spoke with Fightful said they were happy to see Bliss again in the WWE and participating in combat, but some also felt bad for how the situation for Shotzi was.
Bliss had previously published a photo of her with her little daughter, explaining that it was the place where she would be for Saturday's event, but like Jordynne Grace's comment about passing the Royal Rumble with her mother, it is possible that the publication was a job to surprise fans.
