Barça does not waste time when rebuilding its template. A day after announcing the output of the Jabari Parker team, the Barca team already has the signing of Will Clyburn, with whom he has been negotiating a few days. As the journalist Chema de Lucas has advanced, both parties would have already reached an agreement and it is expected that the Barca club will announce in the next few days the arrival of the American wedge for a season. From Barça they recognize that they are close but they say that there is still nothing signed.

With this movement Barça would already ensure three reinforcements for the next campaign. At the moment, the club has only officially announced the signing of another American forward, Myles Cale, but apart from Clyburn there is also an agreement closed for weeks with the Georgian power wing Tornike Shengelia. These last two players come from the same team, Virtus Bologna, while Cale has played this last campaign in Dolomiti Trent.

Three reinforcements and the three arrive from Italy. Barça's commitment to fish players in lega teams is explained by the special taxation provided by Elite athletes in the transalpine country, where their income is taxed by 25%, more or less half than in Catalonia. Being Shengelia, Cale and Clyburn fiscal residents in Italy during the rest of 2025, the salary they charge from Barça before the end of the year will benefit from this beneficial taxation. For Barça it is an interesting option because the gross money you have to sign is transformed into a upper net for players if they arrive from Italy.

Clyburn, 35 years old and 2.01, is one of the best eaves that the European Club basketball has had in the last decade. The Cénit of his career had it at the CSKA Moscow, in which he played five seasons (2017-2022) and with which he proclaimed himself champion of the Euroleague in 2019 in the final Four played in Vitoria, in which MVP was chosen. From there his career has gone down, with a two-year stage in the Anadolu Efes (2022-2024) before he was last summer at the Virtus Bologna, where he signed a 1+1 contract.

In Bologna the season did not start well and there were even rumors of cutting. However, its performance significantly improved in the second half of the campaign until it ends with some averages of 13.8 points, 4.7 rebounds and 15.4 valuation in the Euroleague.

Barça's bet for Clyburn is a redistribution of roles within the Peñarroya team. Clyburn can only reach the Palau thanks to the money that Parker frees (2.2 million gross euros), but do not occupy the same position. At the role level, the commitment to Clyburn is only understood if it comes to occupy the square that will leave Álex Abrines free, which in the absence of official announcement has determined its withdrawal from basketball. This will force Joel Parra to move to 'Cuatro' in the vast majority of next season. The 'three' would be distributed by Clyburn and Myles Cale.

A pivot and a fifth reinforcement

Two more players will arrive

The plan, then, is to sign two eaves (Cale and Clyburn), an wing (Shengelia), a pivot, a position in which the Frenchman Yoan Makouundou (24 years, 2.07) … and a fifth reinforcement stands out on the Barca agenda.

Parker's departure has increased the limited budget (about 350,000 euros) that Juan Carlos Navarro and Mario Fernández had a week ago to sign. By incorporating Clyburn for less than the cost of Parker, some money has been released to improve the margin of the section maneuver and thus, apart from the pivot that replaces Youssoupha Fall, the idea is to sign a fifth reinforcement, possibly a base or base-scroll.
