Carmella recently discovered that his contract with WWE will not be renewed after 12 years with the company. Stevie Richards heard the reaction of former women's champion of Smackdown before her departure and thinks that her first interview after leaving WWE arrived at a bad time.
During an appearance in Barely Famous Kail Lowry, Carmella said WWE “ignored her completely” after having conversations about returning to television in 2024. He also hinted that the company no longer loved her because she had a baby.
Richards, a WWE star between 1999 and 2008, said in The Stevie Richards Show that Carmella should have waited before speaking publicly about her departure:
“I am really, really against that (that the fighters give interviews after leaving) because you are not in the right mental state, you are not in the right emotional state, to go out and start giving interviews after a dismissal or that your contract expires or waives or whatever, because you are going to say something you could repent. In other words, the accusations that it was dismissed or did not renew the contract because it had a baby. (1:01:23 – 1:01:47)
The Princess of Staten Island achieved several impressive milestones in WWE, including winning the first Money In the Bank Women's Stairs fight in 2017. A year later, she exchanged her contract against Charlotte Flair to capture the SmackDown women's championship.
Stevie Richards about Carmella's relationship with Corey Graves
Carmella has been married to NXT commentator, Corey Graves, since April 7, 2022. He gave birth to his first child together on November 8, 2023.
Stevie Richards understands that wrestling business can be difficult for family members. However, he thinks that a comment that Carmella made about Graves still working for WWE did not make sense.
“People in the relationship or marriage are very oriented to their career,” Richards continued. “You enter the business and you sacrifice both to get to WWE, be on television, do all those things, and then you see the person you still love there, and you are no longer there. That comment about what she said, that her husband has a job and she is no longer there, it was a bit weird. That would baffle me a little. I would be happy that anyone in my family continued to receive a check.” (1:03:27 – 1:03:59)
The last televised fight of the 37 -year -old fighter in WWE ended up defeat against Bianca Belair in the episode of March 6, 2023 of RAW.
