Chelsea Green was crowned as WWE's first women's female champion after defeating Michin in Saturday Night's Main Event on December 14, 2024. Vince Russo, WWE's main writer in the late 90s, thinks that Green's popularity should take a turn to Babyface.
Green has won fans lately thanks to her entertaining personality and her alliance on the screen with Piper Niven. On March 7, the Canadian retained her title against Michin on SmackDown after receiving help from her new ally Alba Fyre.
Russo discussed Green's reign with host Dr. Chris Featherstone in Writing With Russo. In the near future, he believes that WWE's creative team should take advantage of the public reactions of the SmackDown star programming it against Heels.
“The simplest thing they could do, and that would make all the meaning of the world, is to turn it into babyface with Piper Niven (acting as Heel),” said Russo. “I say, that's the easiest thing they could do. Why don't you, I don't know. I don't know, brother. This woman is so, so, so talented. They could do a lot with her.” (6:01 – 6:19)

Vince Russo on Piper Niven becoming heel to face Chelsea Green
In recent months, Piper Niven has worked as Chelsea Green bodyguards to ensure that the United States women's champion remains. Based on SmackDown's last episode, it seems that Alba Fyre is ready to play a similar role from now on.
Vince Russo has enjoyed Green's work in the blue brand and thinks that a rivalry with the villain Niven could take her character to the next level:
“I would love to see, in addition to her comic side, and that would be the way to do it. If Piper Niven turns against her and generates a great animosity towards her, we could now see a serious side of Chelsea Green.” (6:19 – 6:34)
Before in the episode, Russo also said he wants a SmackDown star attacking The Steiner Brothers as part of a story with Bron Breakker.
