Botafogo gave a tremendous blow to the Club World Cup by beating Paris Saint-Germain, recent champion of the Champions League.

In an intense and emotion match, the Brazilian team won with authority and efficiency in the neutral stadium that hosted this unprecedented confrontation.

The goal of the triumph was scored by Igor Jesus Maciel da Cruz at 35 minutes of the first half, after a play that deviated in Pacho and dislodged to Donnarumma.

The PSG tried to react with all its arsenal, accumulating corner shots – until eight in the second half – and moving the bank with income such as those of João Neves, Fabián Ruiz, Nuno Mendes and Lee Kangin. However, the French team failed to overcome the defensive wall of Botafogo or violate the goalkeeper John, who wore a key stop against Gonçalo Ramos at the start of the second half.

The Carioca team, meanwhile, was intelligent to resist. He made strategic changes to refresh the midfield and defense, including the entry of Luis Soares da Silva, who received yellow, and from the Uruguayan Santiago Rodríguez. Botafogo's solidity left the PSG without ideas, who lost clarity with the run of the minutes, even after claiming a penalty about Kvarathskhelia in the first half that the VAR did not sanction.

With this result, Botafogo beat the favorite and settled as one of the protagonists of the tournament. PSG, on the other hand, suffered a hard blow after debuting with a win 4-0 to Atlético de Madrid.
