Cody Rhodes is the face of the new era in WWE under the creative direction of Triple H. However, WWE's undisputed champion does not plan to continue being a full -time superstar after certain years.
The American Nightmare debuted in wrestling in 2006 and since then has competed in several promotions, including AEW. In 2022, after several years of absence, he returned to the company based in Stamford to become the main babyface. In April 2024, he captured WWE's undisputed championship, ending the historic Roman Reigns reign in Wrestlemania 40.
While the 39 -year -old fighter is still an active full -time competitor, he revealed in an interview with 2 Bears, 1 Cave that will not continue in that role after 45 years. Meanwhile, he clarified that he would be open to being a part -time fighter:
“Well, now I have 39. I would say that my contract lasts until … I don't want to fight full time definitely after 45. Does I drop me from time to time? Sure. Keep fit. (Follow involved in this world?) I see it possible,” he said. (From 1:15:26 to 1:15:42)
Cody Rhodes will fight Kevin Owens at WWE Royal Rumble
Since October, Cody Rhodes has been enfuded with his former friend Kevin Owens. The prizefighter challenged The American Nightmare in Saturday Night's Main Event. However, he failed to capture the title. After the fight, Owens brutally attacked WWE's undisputed champion and took the Winged Eagle belt.
Last Friday, Rhodes returned to Smackdown to face Owens. The two will now face a Ladder Match for the championship in the next Royal Rumble Premium Live Event event. After formalizing the fight, The Prizefighter sent a message to his opponent, declaring that he was the true champion:
“I am the real champion! I am the real champion! I am the real one … (He hits his forehead with the Winged Eagle belt) … I am the real champion! See you in the rumble, fool!” Said Owens.
It will be interesting to see if The Prizefighter can end the Rhodes title reign on February 1.
