Colombia achieves, for the seventh time, its classification to the World Cup

Colombia held a consecration night at the Metropolitan Stadium in Barranquilla by sealing its classification to the 2026 World Cup with a 3-0 categorical victory over Bolivia.

The team led by Néstor Lorenzo responded to the pressure of date 17 and managed to ensure their ticket to the appointment in North America thanks to solid performance, with James Rodríguez as leader and figure.

The goals of the classification

The captain opened the score at 31 minutes with a goal that lit the illusion of an entire country.

In the second part, the goals that sentenced the classification arrived: Jhon Córdoba extended the advantage to the 73rd minute and Juan Fernando Quintero put the brooch of gold to 84, confirming a blunt triumph in which the tricolor showed hierarchy, commitment and effectiveness at the decisive moment.

The result not only assured the three points, but also mathematically guaranteed the World Cup quota with a day still to be played.

The seven World Cup classifications in Colombia

With this achievement, Colombia reached its seventh participation in the World Cup, after having been in Chile 1962, Italy 1990, United States 1994, France 1998, Brazil 2014 and Russia 2018.

The country returns to shine on the most important football stage, backed by a process that has returned confidence and enthusiasm to the fans, and that is consolidated as one of the most promising in the region.
