The Ministry of Consumption announced on Tuesday the opening of an investigation “to companies that publish in Spain services provided or products made in the Palestinian territories occupied by Israel.”

The investigation of the General Directorate of Consumption of the Department directed by Pablo Bustinduy opens to the protection of Royal Decree-Law 10/2025 approved by the Government last week against the genocide in Gaza, which “prohibits in its article 4 the advertising of goods and services from these occupied territories”.

Specifically, that article in the decree states that “the advertising of the commercialization of goods originating in Israeli settlements in the occupied Palestinian territory and services provided in these settlements will be considered illicit advertising.”

The decree approved last week by the Council of Ministers Veta The export and import of weapons with Israel, but allows exceptional authorizations and does not prohibit hiring with the Israeli military industry.

The Bustinduy department remembers that the Special Rapporteur of the United Nations Organization (UN) for the occupied territories, Francesca Albanese, published a report entitled last July From the economy of occupation to the economy of genocide, “That he indicated that there are companies benefiting economically from the illegal occupation of Palestinian territories, and some would also be operating in Spain.”

The minister already announced last July during the presentation of the act «Alicancia and actions before the genocide in Palestine» that the department he directs was to “put all the necessary resources” in order to guarantee “that no company that operates in Spain has its accounts of results stained with the blood of the Palestinian people”.

With this announcement, the Ministry seeks to “guarantee” that “any company with activity in Spain abandons any operation linked to the Israeli occupation, either directly or indirectly,” underlines its department.

From the ministry directed by Bustinduy, it is considered that maintaining this offer of services in Spain contributes to “perpetuating the colonial efforts and the genocide of Israel.” The businesses that profit from the occupation “are considered an illegal activity for international law and, as the Albanese report includes, based on it in the Netherlands, the Prosecutor's Office is studying the complaints of this activity for possible breaches of the money laundering regulations,” recalls consumption.

This investigation opens after last week the UN pointed to four Spanish companies in their list of firms that operate in the occupied West Bank. Together with the manufacturer of Basque Caf, public public engineering appear, attached to the Ministry of Transportation and that ensures that it will finish its projects in Israel but that, after the attacks of October 2023, it decided not to participate in new contracts; and the construction company ACS, who has denied developing any activity in the country.
