A term that the former WWE executive director, Vince McMahon, frequently used to describe his talent was “superstar”, to avoid referring to any of the members of the staff as a professional fighter. Over time, the talents used within the WWE or the fighters who have since left the company have expressed their hatred towards the term, since some find it quite insulting for sport and its character.

Talking to Renee Paquette and RJ City in “Meal and A Match” of AEW, AEW's ex -champion TNT, Darby Allin, shared his thoughts about the phrase, explaining how he can make the fighters look superior or above all others.

“I think being a spokesman for younger children, who can see me and interact. I will not arrive and say 'everything is perfect, I am a superstar'.

Allin is not the first AEW fighter who complains about the use of the term superstar, since Eddie Kingston said the word had been instilled in the talented heads and pointed out how legends such as Ric Flair and Dusty Rhodes were never referred to as superstars.
