The Lanzarote Calero Sailing Team has initiated its participation in the 44cup Marstrand with an intense day in the water, marked by sunny conditions, stroke winds and a series of incidents that conditioned the results of the day.

After a promising exit and good feelings in training, the Spanish team was weighed by two key penalties – one in the second manga and another in the third – that directly affected their partial classification. As a culmination to an already complicated day, a break in the end in the last test caused an incident on board with a crew member falling into the water, forcing the team to stop its rhythm and closing the day in the 12th position.

The team showed good partials in speed and maneuvering sections during the first sleeve of the day, but was losing rhythm and positions after the sanctions received, especially in boundary situations in Boya. In the third regatta, despite a good tactical output, protested decisions and critical material rupture ended up sentencing the sleeve. The final classification of the day leaves the team in 12th position, with the need to add positions as soon as possible so as not to get off the general.

The tactic Alfredo González thus valued the day: “We have had a day with very strong points, such as the exits, and others that we are already working on, such as speed. In the regatta 2 and 3 we were in the group of the first five, but in both gates we have been penalized. We will analyze in detail these situations so that they do not happen again.

The meteorological part for Wednesday 25 showed gusts of up to 23 knots and stable winds from the northwest (290–300º), which demanded maximum concentration in maneuvers and trimado. Although the day was splendid in the visual, the conditions punished the errors and did not give recovery margin.

The objective of the second day is to connect with the peak speed of the ship, avoid penalties and recover confidence with a clean and aggressive navigation from the first exit.

The Lanzarote Calero Sailing Team is backed by a solid group of entities that bet on sport and candle as an international projection tool: Lanzarote Tourism, Art, Culture and Tourism Centers (Cact), Marine Calero, Calmar, Lanzarote Investment and John Woods Real Estate. On the technical level, it has the support of Harken (through Equyacht), Gottifredi Maffioli and Alegra Travel, official travel partner.
