Before becoming the sarcastic and ingenious verbal murderer who releases bad 20 minutes promo on social networks, The Rock was a normal guy who made his way to the ring for an audience that did not believe it. Johnson made a chronicle of his beginnings in the ring, from a good cloying guy to a heat magnet, during an appearance in the “PBD” podcast.
“What (Vince) told me was: 'I want you to go out and smile … I want the public to feel that you are grateful, so I want you to smile all the time.' Feel that. And consumed me inside. ”
The son of the WWE Hall of Fame, Rocky Johnson, recalled that he was given an opportunity as the youngest intercontinental champion of the WWE, but soon felt (and heard) that the crowd began to become antipathatic against him.
After taking a few months of rest to rehabilitate a knee injury, Vince McMahon offered Johnson the opportunity to become heel (rude), deliberately suggesting that if that role did not suit Johnson, he would probably have no future in the company.
“I said: 'Well, I have a request. Can I use the microphone for two minutes? I just want to express myself.' And he said: 'Oh, God, I don't know anything about that.' 'Give me only one minute.' He said I was fine … and in two months I became the most attractive bad boy of the company, and then I became The Rock.”
