The leader of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, said Monday that “crime has increased” as “illegal immigration” has grown. “Spain needs to open a new time in terms of immigration policy,” he said, to accuse the government of “migratory lack of control.” Feijóo has again promised that “illegal immigration will not give any guarantee or any right” while accused of “exacerbating the spirits” of the Spaniards with their statements.

Feijóo has brought on his management committee this Monday at a Hotel in Aranjuez (Madrid) to prepare the start of the political course. Speaking to the media, the PP leader has argued that “all EU countries are rethinking their immigration measures” and that “there is only a government that denies that migratory lack of control is a problem”, in reference to that of Pedro Sánchez.

“To deny the problem is not preventing thousands of people from losing their lives

On the Spanish coasts, ”he said.” But denying the problem itself is causing migratory lack of control to benefit those who go to Spain with the aim of not working or breaching the laws, ”he said.

“Spain is an open nation, built by millions of people, some of them migrants. But what cannot be is a nation with the doors open to crime, nor can it be to establish and force ideas, to measures and laws other than the ideas, measures and laws that prevail in our country,” he said.

“The borders will not be currency, the borders will be defended, legal immigration will be protected and illegal immigration will not give any guarantee or any right,” he has settled.

In the XXI National Congress of last July the PP has already approved in its political presentation eliminating the registration for migrants, as well as access to “non -contributory benefits”, a bureaucratic way of calling for a minimum vital income. The person in charge of writing the document was the new ideological vice -secretary of Feijoo, Alma Ezcurra, who prepares a new text expressly focused on immigration.

Feijóo redoubles in the start of the course his commitment to assume Ultra speech of Vox and link crime with immigration. He already did it in the past, especially during the campaigns of the Catalan and European elections of 2024. Then, he directly related housing occupations with the arrival of migrants, as well as the increase in crimes.

Although the official data denies it, Feijóo has said that “insecurity has increased”, as well as “the illegal occupation” and that “one crime is committed every three minutes.” The three phrases were referred to Catalonia.

The PP leader defends that Spain had to copy the Italian and Greek model of immigration policy. Last week, Feijóo put them as an example against Spain, although Italy has registered twice as many arrivals so far from 2025.

Despite his statements, Feijóo wanted to mark distance with Vox. Santiago Abascal's party has taken advantage of the management of forest fires made by the autonomous communities of the PP this summer to redouble their attacks against their alleged allies and match them with the PSOE. According to Vox, Spain burns “because of bipartisanship.”

Feijóo has promised to make “policies for the majority” for “the State” and “not to exacerbate the spirits of a part.” And has launched a prediction on account of the surveys that place the ultras in 15% vote estimation: “Many Vox voters at the time of the urn will decide to take a blue ballot and not the green.”

No state pact for fires

Feijóo has also reiterated its opposition to the State Pact raised by Pedro Sánchez in response to forest fires that have devastated more than 400,000 hectares this summer. The PP leader already despised it when the president of the Government announced it, and has done it again on Monday, after Sánchez has completed his intention to create a state civil protection agency.

“To say that you want a state pact in the 25th, after having said it in the year 22 and after creating a vice presidency in 18 to develop it, you will understand that you have no credibility,” said Feijóo, who insisted: “This government has no credibility to make state pacts because all you have done is break the state agreements in defense policy or foreign policy.”
