Damian Priest and Drew McIntyre will face one in a steel cage combat at the WWE saturday event of WWE on May 24. Before the show, John Bradshaw Layfield (JBL) explained why he thinks Priest will come with the victory.
On April 20, McIntyre defeated Judgment Day's former member in a street fight without City in Wrestlemania 41. After the event, both men pointed to the United States championship of Jacob Fatu before focusing each other again on each other.
JBL initially thought McIntyre would win at Saturday Night's Main Event. However, when speaking in the podcast Something to Wrestlethe former WWE champion told presenter Conrad Thompson that Priest would benefit more than one victory.
“Give Damian Priest,” said JBL. “I think they will balance it. The ancient way of bookear is to find a way to keep both boys (strong) because they want both. I know they are trying to keep both strong. I don't know why I don't have privileged information about this, but I've been in business for a long time. You have two boys that you want to keep even. It seems they will do something to keep it balanced.” (2:07:12 – 2:07:35)
Priest previously defeated McIntyre for the World Heavyweight Championship after successfully redeeming his Money In the Bank contract in Wrestlemania XL. He also held the title against The Scottish Warrior at Clash At the Castle 2024.
JBL predicts the result of John Cena's next fight at WWE
So far four fights for Saturday Night's Main Event have been announced, including John Cena against R-Truth. The show will also have Jey use against Logan Paul and Bron Breakker & Seth Rollins against CM Punk & Sami Zayn.
While many WWE fans were surprised by the next dinner opponent, JBL believes that the fight of the 17-time world champion with R-Truth could be the best of the show:
“I love Truth. This will be a lot of fun. I have the feeling that it will be a great fight. Dinner likes Truth, like everyone else. This could steal the show could be very entertaining.” (2:10:51 – 2:11:01)
In the same episode, JBL admitted that he should not have refused to receive a unique dinner movement when they had their rivalry in the mid -2000s.
