Ricardo Rodríguez, known for his role as Alberto del Río's personal announcer in WWE, recently participated in the program INSIGHT With Chris van Vliet. During the interview, Rodríguez shared his memories about some of the most outstanding moments of his career, including his participation in Bret Hart's last fight.
Ricardo Rodríguez recalled the surreal experience of being part of the last fight of the Canadian legend Bret Hart:
“Yes, it is crazy. We were in Ontario that day, in the Alberto and I gym, and we received a message from Road Dogg. The night plan tells Alberto: 'Tonight will be Alberto and Ricardo against John Cena and Bret Hart.' And we thought, we were waiting for a 'Lol' or something, but I never arrived.
The initial surprise quickly became emotion, but not without some improvisation. Rodríguez recalled how he had to look for adequate clothes for combat:
“Obviously, Ricardo is not a fighter. So I took my fighting team, but I had nothing to Ricardo. In that gym they sold women's attire, and they seemed better because they are more colorful and have more designs. I bought some and took them to Road Dogg, who said: 'Yes, that.'”
The culminating moment was to be in the ring with Bret Hart in Canada, a privilege that did not lose sight of:
“I still did not process it completely, but when we entered the ring I thought: 'This is great. This is incredible.' I had already worked with John Cena before and I was always grateful for those opportunities.
Ricardo Rodríguez continues to be a figure remembered with love for WWE fans and still makes sporadic appearances in the independent scene.
