Ghislaine Maxwell, who was a couple and partner of the late magnate and sexual offender Jeffrey Epstein, has been transferred from a prison in Florida to a minimum security installation in Texas, the authorities confirmed this Friday.
Maxwell, who turns a 20 -year sentence for sex trafficking, has asked the US Supreme Court to annul his sentence for sexual trafficking of minors and also tries to achieve an pardon of President Donald Trump.
At the beginning of July, Maxwell held two meetings with the United States General Vice -Fiscal whose details have not been disclosed.
The reasons for the transfer of the 63 -year -old woman, who has been involved in a controversy around Epstein archives by the Trump government, are unknown.
Controversy and secrecy
After arising speculations about the possibility that Trump indules Maxwell, the White House declared that “no pardon is being granted or discussed.”
The BBC contacted the White House to obtain comments on Maxwell's transfer to Texas, but has not received a response at the moment.
“We can confirm that Ghislaine Maxwell is in custody of the Federal Prison Office in the Federal Prison Field (FPC) Bryan, in Bryan, Texas,” said the Federal Prison Office on Friday in a statement.
Maxwell's lawyer, David Oscar Markus, confirmed the transfer but declined to make more comments.
In a statement, relatives of the late Virginia Giuffre – one of the victims of Jeffrey Epstein – expressed his “horror and disgust” for what they described as the “preferential treatment” granted to Ghislaine Maxwell.

They also condemned the transfer for having made “without any notification to the victims of Maxwell.”
“This is the judicial system failing the victims in front of our eyes,” the statement said.
He adds that “the American public should be outraged by the special treatment given to a criminally accused pedophile and sexual offender.”
The new prison
The Bryan Penitentiary Center is located about 160 km from the capital of Texas, Austin.
As in other federal prisons, the internal FPC Bryan are housed in bedrooms, with a low proportion of personnel per inmate compared to other federal prisons of greater security.
It houses people convicted of non -violent crimes, such as financial fraud or corruption.

Among the approximately 650 inmates in the installation is also the former Executive Director of Theranos, Elizabeth Holmes, who serves a sentence of 11 years after being found guilty in 2022 of defrauding investors with her blood analysis company.
The center where Maxwell was held so far in Florida, FCI Tallahassee, houses more than 800 inmates, both men and women.
Although in the new Texas prison the discipline is strict and all the prisoners are expected to work, they also have access to language and business classes, they can practice sports, watch television and attend religious services.
The contact with relatives is allowed by video calls, and the visit of close friends and holidays is authorized, according to an online penitentiary manual by the authorities.

Less than a week ago, Maxwell's legal team indicated that he is willing to testify to the US Congress about what he knows about the case, but only if strict legal protections are granted.
At the beginning of Julio he held two meetings with the US Vice Professional General, Todd Blanche, who said he planned to evaluate whether she could provide additional information about other people who could have received an help from Epstein to sexually abuse minors.
After the meetings, Blanche declared that he would reveal details “at the right time.”
Maxwell's lawyer said that this has not made promises or asked for anything in return.
The pressure on President Trump to publish more files related to the Epstein case has increased, after he repeatedly promised to do so during his election campaign last year.
Trump, on the other hand, has accused his political rivals of using the case to divert attention from his achievements from his return to power.
