
The first edition of MADCUP FOOTBALL Gran Canaria He lived on Friday one of his most special days with the celebration of his welcome party. More than 70 teams, arriving from different corners of the world, gathered into a parade that turned the tournament into a true meeting of cultures with base football as a common link.
The event, which took place during the second day of competition, served as a meeting point for players, technicians, families and organizers. An appointment thought not only to compete, but also to live together, share and celebrate the passion for sport from an early age.
The ceremony started with an emotional recognition to the arbitration collective. All the judges of the tournament took the stage under a sound ovation to pose together in a symbolic image that claimed the respect and essential role they play in sports training.
Then the institutional words arrived. Patricio Viñayo, general director of the UD Las Palmas took the floor; Hilarión Rodríguez, on behalf of the Interinsular Football Federation of Las Palmas; Pepe Ortiz, general director of Madcup; and Jesús Recio, responsible for the edition in Gran Canaria. All of them agreed to highlight the educational, integrative and multicultural character of a tournament that seeks to leave a mark on the island.
But the most colorful and vibrant moment came with the expected team parade. An authentic mosaic of t -shirts, flags and smiles that flooded the enclosure. Among international participants highlighted clubs such as the C10 Academy of Venezuela, newcomer from the Madcup Football Madrid, Florida Soccer Star (Miami), IFAC Mexico – present in all editions of the tournament – or the Norwich City FC, prestigious quarry of British football. The foreign delegation was completed by RC3 and TPE Academy, adding in total six teams from four countries.
In the national section, there were 24 teams present, with clubs such as Atletico de Madrid, ADC San Fermín the Hondo Barranco. Special prominence had the local representation, with 40 teams of 16 Canarian clubs such as the UD Las Palmas school, Estrella CF, UD Tamaraceite, UD Teror Balonpié Reforcalum or the UD Telde, among others.
The act concluded with a mass family photo and a generalized ovation that sealed a night full of emotions. The Madcup Football Gran Canaria not only rolled, but did it with a clear message: base football is much more than competition.
