Pep Guardiola, coach of Manchester City, acknowledged in an interview with the GQ magazine that although his stage as a footballer and coach of Barcelona was very beautiful, he considers that this ended forever and that he would not return to the club, not even as a manager.

“It ended forever. It was very beautiful but it's over. Back as president? No, I don't serve this,” he said in a conversation in which he also indicated that when his stage ends in the City, he has more than determined to stop for an indeterminate time.

Guardiola marked a time as a coach of Barcelona. Between 2008 and 2012, his team not only conquered 14 titles – including two Champions League and three editions of the Spanish League – but imposed a style based on possession, high pressure and associative game.

The great figure of that team was Lionel Messi – a four -a -a -us -ballon gain during the time he shared with PEP – but other period referents such as Xavi Hernández, Andrés Iniesta and Sergio Busquets, among others, also shone.

Guardiola was also asked about Lamine Yamal, the new jewel of the boat, who compares with Messi. “I think you have to let him do his career. And when he has played fifteen years we will say if he is better or worse. Let him do his career. Already the fact that they compare him with Messi are major words.”

After his departure from Barcelona in 2012, the Spanish coach signed with Bayern Munich (2013–2016) with which he won three consecutive Bundesligas. Since 2016, at Manchester City, he took the Citizen Club to dominate British football with multiple Premier League titles and a Champions League in 2023.

In his most recent season he was far from his best version: “When you earn six times the Premier League comes a time when you get down. It is the human being. Then more players had probably had moved, but it is very easy to say later.”

The Spanish coach also reflected on his profession: “I have been this year for four or five months in each stadium away from home, with the public shouting: ‘You’ll be sacked in the morning'. That is, they will throw you away. (…) But our profession is so well paid, they pay us so much money, to accept this. And if you don't want it, you dedicate yourself to another job. ”
