Gunther is a great triple H admirer and says he has been the most important person in wrestling in these times.
Talking with Ariel Helwani On Wednesday, he said that WWE's content director saved professional wrestling by pushing the company to open to the talent around the world.
Gunther said:
“Obviously, he is my boss and I am in a very good position in the company right now, but I believe, to some extent, that he saved the professional wrestling, to a large extent, I think. Because I remember when I started – I began in 2005 – and all the Europeans who tried to enter WWE, there was both mystery about it, as to whom to talk and what to do. It seemed so distant, such an unreal point of reaching. WWE and created so many jobs and opportunities at that time for many of the boys, as for us, for all European boys. ”
“He opened the gates for the world of fight outside WWE and since then the change has been very positive. I think that was a great achievement, to be honest, because the business changed since then and changed for the better,” he added.
Gunther added that he has spent the vast majority of his time in WWE following the slight directions, apart from when he was in the main roster working under Vince McMahon. He signed with the company at the end of 2018 and debuted at NXT UK in the following January. He moved to the NXT brand – the United States – in 2022. He debuted in the episode of April 8, 2022 of Smackdown, a few months before McMahon announced his 'retirement' on July 22. Gunther described his time working under McMahon as “a strange work experience.”
“I was low Vince for four months or something like that, and it was a strange work experience,” Gunher said. “The direction was very confusing. It was difficult to decipher what was expected of me.”
He added that he only had two conversations with McMahon during that period.
