After spending years like the greatest Babyface in the industry, Hulk Hogan became famous by revealing that he was a member of the NWO during the 1996 WCW Bash At The Beach, creating one of the greatest rude changes in professional wrestling.
In a recent appearance in the “Rasslin '” podcast of Barstool, Hogan declared that he loved to play the role of Villano and revealed that, in fact, he had asked Vince McMahon for a long time to make him heel years before, but that they rejected him.
“When I did the work of The Ultimate Warrior in Wrestlemania 6, … one of the things I told Vince McMahon was, 'Let me become Heel,” said Hogan. “If you look at the tape, … everyone in the crowd was seeing me to leave. … slowly, (I could have turned and (returned) and simply tear it down.”
Hogan in return only walked to the dressing room while Ultimate Warrior celebrated his victory in the ring against thousands of fans. Warrior's career as a champion did not last as much as many expected due to problems between the fighter and the management of the company.
Hulk Hogan wanted to be called “Triple H”
In addition, Hogan said he had launched the idea of becoming “Triple H”, also known as “Hollywood” Hulk Hogan. Of course, Hogan's “Hollywood” character did not come into play until years later, and the nickname “Triple H” would end up in the hands of another man.
As for Hogan, I wouldn't spend much more time in WWE. After McMahon rejected his suggestion, Hogan continued to fight at WWE for several more years before leaving, first for the film business and a season in New Japan Pro-Wrestling before finally landing on the WCW.
