The story of The Bloodline has been an important part of WWE's programming since Roman Reigns became a villain in 2020. Vince Russo, the main writer of WWE, thinks that the current state of history is comparable to the last days of Nwo in WCW.
In 1996, Hulk Hogan joined Kevin Nash and Scott Hall to form NWO. The faction was instrumental for WCW Nitro to overcome WWE RAW in television ratings for 83 consecutive weeks during the Monday war at night. However, many fans got tired of NWO's repetitive stories and the increase in the number of members.
Russo was WWE writer when the company took control of the battle for the qualifications against WCW. In an interview in The Hannibal TVthe 63 -year -old spoke about the similarities between the disappearance of NWO and The Bloodline:
“People got tired of that (NWO), they got tired of seeing it,” said Russo. “That opened a small hole for us and that was when the era of attitude was created and when we changed the screws. My God, brother, this story of The Bloodline, wash, rinse, repeat, every week. I am so boring and so tired of that. If they did not pay me to see these shows, I would not have a way that I saw them.” (17:23 – 17:57)
The Bloodline has divided into two factions during the last year. On November 30, the original members Roman Reigns and The Uses joined CM Punk and Sami Zayn in Survivor Series: Wargames. The fans the favorites defeated Bronson Reed, Jacob Fatu, Tama Tonga, Tonga Loa and the new leader of Bloodline, only Sikoa.
Vince Russo about why WWE fans enjoy the story of Bloodline
The WWE content director, Triple H, has supervised the creative direction of the main roster since he replaced his father -in -law Vince McMahon in 2022.
The history of the Anoa'i family is widely considered as one of the largest long -term angles in the history of wrestling. However, Vince Russo does not agree:
“Do you know what it is, brother? Because the standard has dropped so much. The standard is so low that if they do something, (fans think), 'Oh, that was great! This is the best angle in history!' No, brother, the angle is mediocre at best. (18:08 – 18:30)
On January 6, Roman Reigns will face only Sikoa in the first episode of RAW in Netflix. The winner will be recognized as the tribal chief of the Anoa'i family.
