Three-time Premier League winner Patrick Vieira believes our top scorer this season, Viktor Gyokeres, will have a big say in the final month of the campaign.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Swede has 18 goals to his name so far in 2025\/26 after joining from Sporting CP last summer – a tally which puts him fourth on the list of our highest scoring debut seasons since 1990.<\/p>\n

Vieira knows what it takes to lift the title, having won a trio of Premier League crowns in N5, and thinks Viktor’s work rate could be a key factor in getting over the line.<\/p>\n

“I’ve seen him working hard out of possession, and he’s always working hard for the team,” the Frenchman said. “I’ve seen him making the run to create that space, and for some reason, the ball didn’t get there yet.<\/p>\n

“But I think he’s somebody who has more to give than what we’ve seen, and I like his energy, and I like his spirit when he’s on the field. He’s a real team player and scoring goals, he will score goals, I don’t have any doubt about that.”<\/p>\n

If both City and ourselves win all our remaining games, the league could be decided on goal difference, meaning Viktor’s goals could be all the more crucial as we gear up to face Newcastle, Fulham, West Ham, Burnley and Crystal Palace.<\/p>\n

Vieira is no stranger to a run-in, having helped us over the line in 1998, 2002 and 2004, and despite losing our previous two league games, our former skipper was keen to look forward, not backwards.<\/p>\n

He said: “I think I just want them to remind themselves where they are and why they are where they are. Meaning that they are at the top of the league, they are in the semi-final of the Champions League, and you can’t reach that level with no quality, with no team spirit and with no togetherness.<\/p>\n

“It’s about winning games, they know how to do it because they’ve been doing it for the last seven, eight months. When we are in the last sprint, I will say it, it’s important not to forget the quality that brings them where they are today because that will help them to win.<\/p>\n

“I think when you’re going through this run, it’s important not to change the habit. You just keep doing what you used to do and try to enjoy the family time.”<\/p>\n
