To help, Adrian Clarke has gone through the data and footage to reveal some of the key reasons why we beat Newcastle:<\/p>\n<h2>HINCAPIE\u2019S RESILIENCE  <\/h2>\n<p>In a match where we struggled to find our attacking flow, defensive fortitude was needed and left back Piero Hincapie stood out in that department.   <\/p>\n<p>The Ecuadorian was stubborn to beat all evening, winning nine of his 13 duels. Strong in 1v1s he made five tackles, and by stepping in at the right times to turn over possession, Hincapie also produced four interceptions and three ball recoveries.  <\/p>\n<p>This beautifully timed hooked tackle on the pacy Anthony Elanga late on typified his determination \u2013 and after picking himself up off the turf the 24-year-old curled a delightful pass up the line for Viktor Gyokeres which launched a superb counter attack.<\/p>\n<article data-entity-type=\"media\" data-entity-uuid=\"878756a8-2d1c-48ab-9f45-95480eba30fd\" data-embed-button=\"image_embed\" data-entity-embed-display=\"view_mode:media.card\" data-entity-embed-display-settings=\"()\" data-langcode=\"en\" class=\"embedded-entity u-spacing-down--xxl\">\n<article>\n<\/article>\n<\/article>\n<article data-entity-type=\"media\" data-entity-uuid=\"a8b27aa9-ae6d-48c8-b785-80979bd965bf\" data-embed-button=\"image_embed\" data-entity-embed-display=\"view_mode:media.card\" data-entity-embed-display-settings=\"()\" data-langcode=\"en\" class=\"embedded-entity u-spacing-down--xxl\">\n<article>\n<\/article>\n<\/article>\n<p>In total 46.9% of Newcastle United\u2019s attacks came down their right wing, where Eddie Howe\u2019s side raided via several players including Jacob Murphy, Lewis Miley, Joe Willock, Harvey Barnes and Elanga.  <\/p>\n<p>With Eberechi Eze often tucked inside as an inverted left winger, it was not always easy to cope, but none of those Magpies players got any change out of Hincapie, who manfully stood his ground.  <\/p>\n<p>This defensive chalkboard shows his tackles (five), interceptions (four), recoveries (three), clearances (five) and blocks (one).  <\/p>\n<article data-entity-type=\"media\" data-entity-uuid=\"367f70fc-95a7-476b-b096-a8549cc18655\" data-embed-button=\"image_embed\" data-entity-embed-display=\"view_mode:media.card\" data-entity-embed-display-settings=\"()\" data-langcode=\"en\" class=\"embedded-entity u-spacing-down--xxl\">\n<article>\n<\/article>\n<\/article>\n<p>Our left back also made a team-high 356 intensive runs, and while he did not make a tremendous impression inside the final third, Hincapie\u2019s accurate passing (87.5%) did help the side greatly.  <\/p>\n<p>Showing coolness on the ball, but fire in his duels, this was a terrific performance from Hincapie.  <\/p>\n<article data-entity-type=\"node\" data-entity-uuid=\"e9cdc585-9859-405c-88cc-88b9dc54f781\" data-embed-button=\"article_embed\" data-entity-embed-display=\"view_mode:node.tiny\" data-langcode=\"en\" data-entity-embed-display-settings=\"()\" class=\"embedded-entity u-spacing-down--xxl\">\n<article data-article-id=\"126938\" about=\"\/news\/highlights-arsenal-1-0-newcastle-united-0\">\n<div class=\"article-card article-card--tiny card\" data-eq-pts=\"xsmall: 200, small: 550, medium: 640, large: 768\">\n<div class=\"card__content\">\n<p>\n         <span class=\"h6 article-card__subhead\">Read more<\/span>                             <\/p>\n<h3 class=\"article-card__title has-icon\" title=\"Highlights: Arsenal 1-0 Newcastle United\"> <i class=\"icon icon--play\"\/> <span class=\"article-card__title-words\">  Highlights: Arsenal 1-0 Newcastle United <\/span><br \/>\n          <\/h3>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/article>\n<\/article>\n<p><\/p>\n<h2>SET PIECE AGAIN! <\/h2>\n<p>This encounter was ultimately decided by a top-class set-piece routine, expertly finished off by Eberechi Eze\u2019s gorgeous curling strike.   <\/p>\n<p>Whether it was by design or simply an unplanned change that paid off, the third of three consecutive short corners absolutely bamboozled our opponents.<\/p>\n<p>The first two short corners saw Martin Odegaard receive the ball from Noni Madueke, before trying to pick out Eze with a pass on the edge of the penalty area.  <\/p>\n<p>Ben White, Martin Zubimendi and Kai Havertz all made runs towards the ball too. The Magpies ran an impressive 116.72km.  <\/p>\n<p>Our captain Martin Odegaard led by example when it came to distance covered, running a match-high 11.89km.
