Monaco will never have been able to compete. The Rocher club was logically dominated by a very solid Arsenal team (<\/span>3-0), Wednesday December 11, during the 6th day of the league phase of the Champions League. Reduced to silence, Adi H\u00fctter’s players only existed for a few minutes at the start of the second half, without ever really threatening. Insufficient to imitate Brest and Lille, who validated their qualification at least for the play-offs.<\/span><\/p>\n

Opposite, Arsenal maintained its reputation as a particularly well-organized team. Patient in the build-up, she logically converted her domination from the first period. Bukayo Saka opened the scoring by taking a good ground serve at the far post from Gabriel Jesus (34th). A sort of logical conclusion to the growing domination of the Gunners, who had just come up against Radoslaw Majecki twice, on shots from Gabriel Jesus (25th, 28th).<\/span><\/p>\n

The second period, more balanced, did not leave room for many chances. Apart from an off-target header from Thilo Kehrer from a free kick (47th), Monaco produced nothing offensively. Calm on its support, Arsenal remained in ambush. A restart error ended up happening and Bukayo Saka took advantage of it to score a double (78th). As if there was still a need to kill the suspense, Kai Havertz made it 3-0 at the end of the match (88th).<\/span><\/p>\n

Now 16th, ASM remains stuck at 10 points. Its qualification for the play-offs is still on track, but the Top 8 is moving away. Their next European meeting is set for January 21, against another well-placed English club, Aston Villa (5th).<\/span><\/p>\n
